Dr. Cindy Youssef Riyad is the Executive Director for the Review Committees for Medical Genetics and Genomics, Pathology, and Preventive Medicine. She joined the ACGME in 2022, serving as Associate Executive Director for these Review Committees. Dr. Riyad has extensive experience in medical education, serving 11 years as the Director of Graduate Medical Education at Prisma Health (Greenville, South Carolina) and the Founding Director of Medical Education at Lakeland Regional Health (Lakeland, Florida). She also served as the Academics Chief of Staff, overseeing the medical education pipeline continuum and holding an academic title with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. Dr. Riyad began her professional career in diversity, equity, and inclusion at The Richard W. Riley Institute at Furman University, managing diversity training for executive leaders and establishing the university’s international footprint at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) annual summit.
A Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar, Dr. Riyad earned her doctoral degree in educational leadership from Clemson University, master’s degree in international relations from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and bachelor’s degree in political science from Furman University.
