In the aftermath of a severe COVID-19 surge, ACGME Senior Scholar for Well-Being Dr. Stuart Slavin leads a group of well-being scholars in discussing the impacts of the Omicron Variant and ways to move forward in a new ACGME podcast, with video recording.
Dr. Mukta Panda (University of Tennessee-Chattanooga), Dr. Jonathan Ripp (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai), and Dr. Larissa Thomas (University of California San Francisco) join Dr. Slavin in a conversation about mental health and emotional wellness of residents, faculty members, and others at institutions that sponsor graduate medical education (GME) programs across the United States.
The group addresses implications for reimagining GME for the future and explores system and individual strategies the GME community can cultivate in response to the impacts of Omicron, while acknowledging the ongoing need to be creative, resourceful, and supportive in unprecedented times.
The ACGME is committed to enhancing well-being in GME and recently expanded its Well-Being Tools and Resources page for institutions, programs, residents/fellows, and faculty members.
