All specialty/subspecialty-specific Program Requirements have been updated to incorporate the focused revision to the Common Program
Requirements, effective July 1, 2022. The updated documents are available on the Program Requirements and FAQs and Applications page of each respective specialty section of the ACGME website.

NEW! Selected Topics Across Program Requirements Updated
The Selected Topics Across Program Requirements documents for Number of Faculty Members, Program Director Qualifications, Resident/Fellow Scholarly Activity, and Direct Supervision Using Telecommunication have been updated to reflect the specialty/subspecialty-specific Program Requirements in effect as of July 1, 2022. A new document listing the subspecialties that permit independent practice has also been added.
Note: the documents for Coordinator Dedicated Time, Core Faculty Member Dedicated Time, and Program Leadership Dedicated Time were updated prior to July 1 and remain unchanged. All current Selected Topics Across Program Requirements documents can be found on the Institutional Applications and Requirements page of the Designated Institutional Officials section of the website, under the "Selected Topics Across Program Requirements" heading.
Join the DEI Officers Forum

The July DEI Officers Forum will feature speakers presenting on disability inclusion and accommodation in GME from the ACGME Equity MattersTM curriculum. This month’s conversation is timely as July is Disability Pride Month.
The forum provides a peer advisory network of new and seasoned leaders who address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in their Sponsoring Institutions and programs.
Registration Open for 2022 National Learning Community of Sponsoring Institutions Meeting
Registration is now open for the first National Learning Community of Sponsoring Institutions meeting. Designed specifically for designated institutional officials and institutional leaders, the meeting will convene in Chicago and online September 7-8, 2022, with the theme of “Building Connections, Leading Change.”
Participate in interactive workshops, engage in peer interest community sessions and presentations, get updates from the ACGME, and network with colleagues actively committed to leading change in Sponsoring Institutions and clinical learning environments. Hear from clinical leaders at the Shared Learning Luncheon and Innovation Town Hall.

The window for submitting CLER visit blackout weeks is open through July 26 for blocking off dates in the period highlighted below. Sponsoring Institutions can submit up to four blackout weeks during this period.

Seeking Nominations for the Coordinator Advisory Group
The ACGME is accepting nominations for the next cohort of the Coordinator Advisory Group, which serves as a consultative body concerning coordinator, graduate medical education, learning environment, and accreditation matters. Members will serve three-year terms, from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026.

NEW! Call for Applications for a Visual Media Resident/Fellow Editorial Board Member
JGME seeks a current resident or fellow to serve as a visual media editor on the journal's Editorial Board. Applicants from any specialty or subspecialty are eligible. Qualified candidates should have an interest in medical education and scholarship and prior experience in visual design or graphic art. Visit the Announcements page on the JGME website for details.
Candidates should email their CV and a brief letter of interest, as well as a statement of support from their program director, to jgme@acgme.org. The application deadline is Monday, August 15, 2022.

As remote work becomes more common, integrating tools afforded by technology can increase productivity and develop writing skills through social interactions. This article describes various strategies and tools to facilitate the initial phase of group writing.
Creating Patient Safety Team Members Through a Simulation-Based Interprofessional Root Cause Analysis Course

Root cause analysis is widely used to respond to patient safety events; however, residents may lack knowledge about the process. Article authors implemented a flipped classroom approach to teaching root cause analysis, with didactic sessions and simulations. They found participants had higher confidence and comfort with the process.

ACGME Seeks Resident Members
The following Review Committees seeks nominations for their next resident member. Nominees must be enrolled in an ACGME-accredited residency or fellowship program at the time of the appointment and may not serve more than one year beyond completion of that program. After review and consideration of all nominees, the Review Committees will forward their selection to the ACGME Board of Directors for approval. Terms begin July 1, 2023 and end June 30, 2025.

NEW! Review Committee Seeks Obstetrics and Gynecology Program Feedback
Obstetrics and gynecology residency and fellowship programs are asked to use the Major Changes and Updates section in the Accreditation Data System (ADS) during the program’s ADS Annual Update to inform the Review Committee of the impact of the Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health on their program. If applicable, programs should outline changes to the family planning curriculum (completed and planned) and a timeline for any planned changes.

The application and list of required uploads for the Sponsoring Institution-based fellowship in health care administration, leadership, and management are now available. Institutions can begin applications in ADS. Application reviews will begin this fall.

Special Advisory Committee Call for Nominations
The Institutional Review Committee is accepting nominations for a temporary advisory committee to review applications for accreditation of new Sponsoring Institution-based fellowship programs in health care administration, leadership, and management. The advisory committee is intended to augment the expertise of the committee for the purpose of Sponsoring Institution-based fellowship accreditation. The advisory committee will be appointed from September 2022 to June 2024.
The Institutional Review Committee seeks nominations from health care executives, which include chief executive officers, chief quality officers, chief nursing officers, or chief medical information officers. Access the nomination request and form.

Feedback Sought for Major Revision of the Institutional Requirements
Every 10 years, Review Committees are required to review their requirements to determine necessary revisions. The goal of this major revision is to anticipate future considerations that will be relevant to the accreditation of Sponsoring Institutions and incorporate them into the Institutional Requirements.
The Institutional Review Committee seeks feedback on the current Requirements to help inform this revision. Email comments to irc@acgme.org by July 21, 2022.
