The 2022 ACGME Annual Educational Conference offers unique opportunities for new and experienced designated institutional officials (DIOs) to come together virtually to learn, connect, and recharge.
Conference sessions will address a range of topics critical to DIOs, including sessions about site visit preparation, Institutional (and specialty) Review Committee requirement planning, strategies for managing and leading in the role of DIO, and more. Search for sessions by topic or audience on the Schedule page of the conference website to see all that’s being offered!
For those just getting started as a DIO, consider immersing yourself in the half-day pre-conference designed specifically for DIOs new to the accreditation process. Led by ACGME staff members, including Chief Sponsoring Institutions and Clinical Learning Environment Officer Kevin B. Weiss, MD, MPH; Vice President, Milestones Development Laura Edgar, EdD, CAE; Senior Vice President, Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) Robin Wagner, RN, MHSA; and others, sessions will focus on the roles and responsibilities of the DIO, especially as they relate to overseeing ACGME-accredited programs and ensuring compliance with ACGME requirements.
On the theme of building connections, the conference provides numerous networking opportunities, as well as live Q and A sessions with speakers and chances to meet directly with ACGME leaders and experts, tools to text and video chat with other conference participants, and chatrooms specifically dedicated to different roles in GME. In addition, the conference schedule includes virtual well-being activities and events, such as yoga and exercise classes, family-friendly activities, and live entertainment.
The conference is also an ideal venue for connecting directly with ACGME staff members. The ACGME Hub will allow you to meet with ACGME staff members from various departments and functions, including Field Activities; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Milestones; the Journal of Graduate Medical Education; ACGME Global Services; Well-Being; Accreditation Data Systems; and Distance Learning.
Information about sessions, networking, and activities is available on the ACGME conference registration site, where you can browse detailed session descriptions, author bios, and conference resources before you register. With low registration fees compared to other years, and no travel time or costs, this is a great year to consider attending the largest GME conference in the world! Note that the registration fees go up after February 9, so don’t wait to register!
We look forward to seeing you – virtually! – in March!
